A changing climate is causing more severe coastal storms and steadily rising sea levels. The resulting storm flooding, followed by permanent inundation by rising seas, puts lives at risk, causing trillions of dollars of property damage, and damages coastal ecosystems and critical infrastructures. Low income and minority communities are to bear a disproportionate share of these risks. Most countries, if not all, are not prepared to meet these challenges.
Today we need bold action to help communities, businesses and governments to “understand, plan and adapt” to this inevitable, new reality. Presently no institution offers practical and accurate information about the massive challenge of adapting to sea level rise. Our Institute was created to fill that void.
With support from concerned citizens like yourself, the Institute can serve humanity as an unbiased, global and objective “thought center” that can translate the latest science into real world solutions.
Together, we can develop sea level rise solutions to help preserve coastal ecosystems and build strong communities for future generations.
